Roberta Busato was born in Verona in 1976.
She attended the Academy of Fine Arts of Carrara, where she graduated in 2004 in painting with Omar Galliani. At the same time, she began to collaborate with the theater company Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio as a set designer. These were years of study and research, during which the artist pursued a multidisciplinary approach, integrating drawing and painting, sculpture and theater. Such an imprint on the conception and development of the artistic work, through the use of a heterogeneity of expressive means, will lead to the realization of pictorial, photographic and video works and then, in the last period, to the investigation of the plastic material. At the origin of the most recent cycle of works, there is the discovery of raw earth, a primordial material. The choice of this element, poor but charged with history and highly symbolic, and the refinement of a technical and creative procedural process - of decomposition and recomposition of the form - represent the two fundamental moments of a research that is not exclusively plastic and material, but extremely personal and deeply poetic.
Since 2000, she has participated in exhibition projects, first through installations and performances, then with photographic works, until she chose sculpture exclusively. She has participated in group exhibitions in Venice, Mantua, Lucca, Livorno, Carrara and Bologna. Some of her works were selected by AJAC and presented in a group show at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum. Recent exhibitions include: "Il meglio dell'arte italiana figurativa" at MacS, Museo d'Arte Contemporanea di Sicilia, Catania, 2016; "Migrazioni. Contaminazioni culturali tra i popoli" at Fondazione l'Arsenale, Iseo, 2016; "GAM" curated by Vincenzo Denti and Gianfranco Ferlisi at Casa del Mantegna, Mantua, 2016; "Hourglass" curated by Tiziana Tommei, solo show at Galleria 33, Arezzo, "Kairos" curated by Isorropia Homegallery Milan.
She lives and works in Mantua and Pietrasanta.
